Somewhere Along the Highway is the fourth full-length album by Swedish post-metal band Cult of Luna, released in 2006 by Earache Records. A concept album, it revolves around the motif of male loneliness. It was warmly received by critics and accordingly claimed several awards. The album followed Salvation in the band's chronology, and differed from it in terms of sound and feel. While Salvation was deemed celestial, Somewhere Along the Highway was characterized as unpolished by the band. Support the artist, buy the album: Tracklist: 01. Marching to the Heartbeats 0:00 02. Somewhere Along The Highway continues the progression that the band have gone through. Their first release Cult Of Luna was probably the most aggressive of all their albums. Thier second album The Beyond, toned the dischordance and tempo down, their third album Salvation was their most serene album so far yet still had an unmistakable heaviness to it. Somewhere Along the Highway can be considered to be heavier than Salvation although not just heavy in the guitarbass sense but in it's atmosphere. On this record Cult O. If you think you know what Swedish metal is all about, Cult of Luna may make you change your mind. Yes, there's heaviosity aplenty here: these very long tracks averaging about ten minutes each all boast a huge and dense sound. But not all of them start out that way, and none of them ever approaches the kind of high-intensity death trip that characterizes the work of their countrymen Meshuggah or Amon Amarth.
